What in the Heck is a Showtune Showdown?
Showtune Showdown is a game, divided into 3 rounds. In each round, each team performs a prepared show tune complete with fabulous costumes and mind-blowing choreography to earn points from our panel of celebrity judges! Then comes the Showtune Showdown! Our host will read out clues to a particular Broadway song. Whichever team buzzes in first with the correct answer wins a chance to perform that song - sight unseen - for even more points!
But wait, there’s more!
In addition to the performances, the teams must answer show tune trivia, but if they can’t figure out the answer, the audience can weigh in for a chance to sing on stage and allocate points to their favorite team!
With so many twists and turns, it’s hard to know who will win this competition until just before the closing curtain. Throw in some audience singalongs, a musical theatre costume parade, and a zany, free-wheeling atmosphere, and you’re in for a real showstopper of an evening!
Meet Our Fabulous Host & Judges!!!
Erin Schwab knows how to work a song, and an audience. She’s built that up over a career in musical theater with the likes of Tina ‘n’ Tony’s Wedding and the national tour of School House Rock Live! That experience allows her to tackle just about anything under the sun, from covers of tunes by the Police to a selection from Avenue Q to originals based on her years as a working performer. Meanwhile, her warm approach and ability to work a crowd can be heard at local gigs at places like Hell’s Kitchen, The Town House, or her album, Martini’s & Cleavage.
Erin can be seen performing her Cabaret act with Jay Fuchs at Hell's Kitchen, Honey and The Townhouse where she also performs with Lori Dokken. She also sings with Metro Jam, Robert Bell's Twin Cities Hot Club and The Wolverines Jazz Trio and Big Band. Most recently, Erin was seen in The Ordway's Broadway Songbook Series: The Music of Stephen Sondheim, and Theater Latte Da's production of Beautiful Thing at The Lab Theater in Mpls and is one of the national hosts of Sing-Along Sound of Music. Erin is a member of both the Ensemble Dapartment and Voice Department Faculty at McNally Smith College of Music and is the Director of the Musical Theater Ensemble whose most recent productions, The Rocky Horror Show, Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, Schoolhouse Rock Live! and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, played to enthusiastic crowds at the History Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lori Dokken has played and appealed to the patrons of every major and minor music venue in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The "Beloved Twin Cities singer and pianist" (Minneapolis StarTribune, June '96) entertains with an eccentric charm, talent and wit that embraces an audience like an old friend.
Comfortable in radio, television and stage performance. She has been a welcomed guest on numerous radio talk shows, a delightful host for comedy shows and fundraisers and has performed in stage productions and on television. Locally she has appeared on such stages as The Guthrie Theater, The State Theater, the Times Bar and Caf, The Dakota Bar and Grill, the Town House, The Gay 90's, Backstage at Bravo, Ivories, and countless other venues in the Minneapolis-St. Paul areas as well as clubs in Chicago and Los Angeles

Senator Scott Dibble first became involved in politics in the mid-1980's working on issues concerning the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) communities including HIV/AIDS. His involvement led to organizing on issues of social and economic justice—especially in the areas of neighborhood livability, transportation, housing, energy and the environment.
He later worked as aide to Minneapolis City Council Member Doré Mead for about 6 years. In 2000, Dibble ran for a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives, becoming the third openly gay legislator to serve in the Minnesota Legislature. After serving one term in the House, Dibble ran for State Senate in 2002 where he is now serving in his third term. He was the lead author of the bill that established marriage equality in Minnesota.
Meet the teams!
Now celebrating its 37th year, Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus (TCGMC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer community chorus whose mission is Gay Men Building Community Through Music. Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus seeks to provide its members with rewarding musical experiences and to promote social exchange. As an organization that celebrates diversity and uses music as a way to transform, educate and heal, the Chorus works towards the elimination of homophobia and intolerance through community outreach.
Recently, a member of the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus wrote, “As a community, the Chorus serves a supportive and stabilizing role for its members…I know several members who, facing depression and other challenges over the years, have said, ‘The Chorus has saved my life.’”
Now in our 37th season, the goals of the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus continue to be three-fold: 1) to achieve a high level of musical integrity; 2) to give voice and visibility to a cultural minority; and 3) to confront homophobia and intolerance and affect positive social change.

Founded in 2004, The Singers organization is dedicated to giving world-class performances of the finest choral literature. The Singers, a professional choir of 40 members, exists to serve as artists, educators, and advocates of the choral art. Recognized nationally for their innovative programming, commitment to new music, and peerless artistic quality, The Singers made their debut at the renowned Ravinia Festival in June 2013, and have made subsequent returns in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
The Singers and Matthew Culloton are very engaged in educational collaborations that pair the choir with school choirs around Minnesota. Singing “shoulder to shoulder” with high school students in concert settings has inspired thousands of young musicians who have never experienced music making at a professional level. Dr. Culloton leads conducting masterclasses with public school educators, and conducts the organization’s Community Sing programs. In March 2016, 300 people participated and joined The Singers for a performance of Faure’s REQUIEM.

Calliope held its first self-produced concert in 1982, and continues to offer at least two full concert programs per season plus several community performances. In 1992, Calliope incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Calliope members are lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual. We welcome women to join us in singing with excellence and pride. Our concert themes and programming promote social change through increasing awareness about the subject of each concert and “keeping hope alive” for the people who work for change.
