Weather: Stand the Storm Concert
This is a program acknowledging/commemorating the 5th anniversary of the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020; a collaboration between One Voice Mixed Chorus (Waigwa), Singing City (Dr. Rollo Dilworth), VocalEssence Singers of This Age (Dr. G. Philip Shoultz), Elevate Vocal Arts & Elevation Ensemble (Dr. Arreon Harley-Emerson & Dr. Jillian Harrison-Jones).
This project is the Minnesota premiere of Dr. Rollo Dilworth’s work “Weather”, a setting of Claudia Rankine’s poem “Weather” published in the New York Times following the public execution of George Floyd. Featuring four Black choral leaders dedicated to pioneering new visions of social justice through artistry, the project will provide opportunities to volunteer, donate, and patronize local BIPOC organizations and businesses, as well as lectures and interactive sessions - initiatives for renewed action and support of the local BIPOC and queer community.
Tickets expected early Spring 2025!
